SHOTGUN was a Detroit funk group whose enthusiasm didn't pay off in hit singles. Trumpeter Richard Sebastian, saxophonist Greg Ingram, keyboardist/lead guitarist Billy Talbert, guitarist Ernest Latimore, bassist Larry Austin, drummer/vocalist Tyrone Steels, and percussionist Leslie Carter made entertaining songs in the best Ohio Players/Slave/Cameo mode but never could land the elusive hit. They also toured with Rick James while recording for ABC, MCA, and Montage in the late '70s and early '80s. But, before SHOTGUN, you must also remember that members were known as "THE 24 CARAT BLACK" soul group, that recorded an LP in 1973 on ENTERPRISE / STAX records [ENS-1030). Additional "Funklopedik Bio." : SHOTGUN can be classified as a Funk Rock, Rock, R&B group, originally located in Ann Arbor, Michigan Original Members of SHOTGUN : - William Talbert – Cincinnati, Ohio – Keyboards, Guitar and Vocals - Tyrone Steels – Cincinnati, Ohio – Drums and Vocals - Ernest Lattimore – Cincinnati, Ohio – Guitar and Vocals - Larry Austin – Cincinnati, Ohio – Bass Guitar and Vocals - Gregory Ingram Thomas – Cincinnati, Ohio – Sax and Vocals

Six members of SHOTGUN was in a group called 24 CARAT BLACK who recorded a album entitled "GHETTO'S MISFORTUNES WEALTH" on Enterprises/ Stax's Records which more samples have been pull off this album then in sampling history.
After the album was released some time went bye and the group split
in Memphis TN. Half return to Cincinnati,O and some members stayed
in Memphis. The members who stayed in Memphis left (went
Chicago,ILL.) and added some new members under the direction of the
producer Dale Warren. They started working a new album.
Unfortunatlly the second set was never released and it's only with
the release of the GONE PROMISES OF YESTERDAY-CD in 1995 that the
songs from that session in Chicago have been availabled.
