In early 82 , a new philly label was setted up : PHILLY WORLD records. After the dismisse of P.I.R and WMOT, that was one rare imprint label to maintain R&B / Soul / Funk flag in Philadelphia. Many of the roaster used on WMOT , producers, arrangers, engineers were back with PHILLY WORLD Rec.

Nick MARTINELLI was recruted as R&B manager for PWR. Between 1982 - 1986 PWR, released nearly 10 LP, and 27 commercial 12" singles in funk/Soul styles. It was a fabulous operating area for new comers prodcuers, writers, that met legendary ones Bunny SIGLER or HARRIS.

 

PHILLY WORLD Rec. was, first independant (1983/1983), but was quickly picked up for a wider market response by ATLANTIC/WEA for a two year deal. (1984-1985). The last album (Eugen WILDE) was successivelly pressed and distributed by ATLANTIC and then MCA. MCA records keept the contract of Eugene for another album released in 1987.

After the closing, another label was helded : ALPHA INTN'l Records.
