Les "French Wonderboys", où les débuts du Disco Français : Du Marco au Brésil.
Il
avaient l'habitude de se faire appeller les "French
Wonderboys" de la disco. Leur assocation est synomime de
plusieurs douzaines de millions de disques vendus à travers
le monde. Henri BELOLO débuta comme directeur de BARCLAY au
Maroc. Féroce en affaires, il rencontra Jacques MORALI,
alors secrétaire particulier de Hervé VILARD, Jacques est
plus passionné. Ce sont les deux éléments de la fusion. Leur
production a donnée des tubes internationaux pour RITCHIE
FAMILY, Patrick JUVET, et... VILLAGE PEOPLE.
Le
premier succes commercial pour eux, fût le trio RITCHIE
FAMILY. Lors d'un voyage sur Philadelphie, ils ont
présenti l'énorme potentiel de ce nouveau style musical qui
commencait à envahir les DISCOS. Tout comme GAMBLE & HUFF
avec le groupe THREE DEGREES, BELOLO & MORALI
recrutèrent un groupe pour leurs compositions. Joel
WITHBURN précise cependant que le nom du groupe provient
d'un autre producteur, Ritchie ROME. Le trio original était
constitué de Cheryl Mason JACKSON, Cassandra Ann
WOOTEN et Gwendolin OLIVER. Pour leur première
productions il utilisèrent les musicans de studios de P.I.R
records. En complément de leur compositions, il
ré-arangèrent un standard "Brazil", une chanson interprétée
30années auparavant par Xavier CUGAT.
La combinaison de la musique sud-américaine avec la "Philly touch" fit merveille, et le single leur permit de décrocher le jackpot en 1975. En 1976, ce trio ré-edita le même succès avec "The Best Disco In Town", un titre couvrant toute la face A de l'album, et revisitant les standard du Rhytm'n BLues et de la Soul. Ces deux hits ont établi les deux français commes des professionnels aux U.S.A. A noter que ce groupe a été après complètement renouvellé et consistait en Jacqueline-SMITH-LEE, Theodosia "Dodi" DRAHER et Ednah HOLT, cette dernière enregistrant un single pour West-End en 1979.

They

Wonderboys" of disco music. They're association is
synonomous of several millions dozens of record sales
all other the world.Henri BELOLO began managing BARCLAY
records in Moroco, and is hard in business. Jacques MORALI
had been the secretary of a french artist named Hervé
VILARD, and is more passionate.
That's the two elements of the fusion.The paved disco by
their production work witch RITCHIE FAMILY, Patrick JUVET,
and VILLAGE PEOPLE, to name a few, but they are numerous.
The
first commercial success for them, was that trio:
THE RITCHIE FAMILY.
While travelling in Philadelphia they discovered the
enormous potential of that new musical style in the discos.
As GAMBLE & HUFF already done it with the THREE DEGREES, B &
M recruited a girl group by small ad for they're
compositions.M. Joel WITHBURN mentionned that the group name
come from other producer Ritchie ROME. The trio originally
consisted of Cheryl Mason JACKSON, Cassandra Ann
WOOTEN and Gwendolin OLIVER. For the first record, B & M,
can use the musicans of the Philadelphia record group. In
addition of the compositions, the re-arrange a standard
"Brazil", a song performed 30 years before by Xavier CUGAT.
Combination of south-american music, with philly feelings made it a jackpot single. That was in 1975. The two did the same in 1976 with "The Best Disco in Town", main song title covering all the a-side. It's a travel all around the world, re-visiting all the standards of rhytm'n blues and soul. This double hit maker establish those two guys as profesionnal in the U.S.A. Note that later the group completly changed and consisted of Jacqueline-SMITH-LEE, Theodosia "Dodi" DRAHER and Ednah HOLT, the last girl also recorded solo, later on West-End records (1979).
